FLIKS Films
FLIKS shows features, documentaries and shorts
that are often hard to find.
Many are foreign, some are domestic; some have sub-titles,
some are in English; some are happy, some are sad – but
they are all inspiring, interesting and entertaining.
Sometimes we present a series on a specific
theme, and occasionally we will have special events like Film
Festivals, guest filmmakers and speakers, dinner and a movie
packages etc.
We rarely show a film we haven't seen, and we stand by all the films we show.
If you think the film you just saw isn’t worth your hard earned admission – then tell us and we’ll refund your money.
FLIKS Picks of the Fests
FLIKS travels the film festival circuit , watching over 100 films in order to bring you great programming.
A note about our programming:
We're always working behind the scenes to get you great films. That's why we usually only post our lineup one to two months ahead of time. We want to leave some room just in case Micheal Moore wants to premiere his new film with us (come on Mike, we dare you!) or in case a film we’ve been trying to get for some time becomes available.
What's On Where
Each film screens ONE NIGHT ONLY PER LOCATION.
Usually we screen:
Twice a month in
NELSON on Wednesdays @ the Capitol Theatre
Once a month in:
NAKUSP on Mondays @ The Bonnington Arts Centre
Kaslo on Fridays @ The Bonnington Arts Centre
Occassionally in
VALLICAN on Fridays @ the Vallican Whole Community Centre
Consult this website for the latest FLIKS calendar. If you prefer we can snail mail, fax, or email you the latest FLIKS calendar…just contact us.
We also occasionally put on repeat performances or screen a film or series in an neighbouring community if there is the demand.
Call us at 1.866.FLIKSCA (1.866.354.5722) for the latest updates or if you'd like FLIKS to screen in your rural West Kootenay hamlet.
Age Requirements, Film Suggestions, Call for
Submissions
While most of our films require filmgoers to
be 18yrs of age, we occasionally offer All-Ages events too.
Check the listing for more information on the age requirement
of a specific film.
If you have a suggestion for a great film –
especially one that your neighbours haven’t seen and
would enjoy, please contact us with your idea. If we screen
your film suggestion, you’ll receive 2 free tickets
and the opportunity to introduce the film!
FLIKS also wants to give exposure to local films
whenever possible. We are currently looking for interesting,
entertaining shorts to show before our main feature. Contact
us if you want to screen your short.
FLIKS is a Slocan Valley based organisation, working with the Rural Alternative Research & Training
Society (RARTS), the Rossland Arts Council, The Langham Theatre in Kaslo, and the Nakusp Cinefil Cinema Club to bring rare, interesting, insightful, inspiring,
creative BIG Screen events TO communities within the Kootenays.
