FLIKS

GENERAL FEEDBACK

Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate being able to see good, interesting, different movies in my neighborhood (Vallican). Keep up the good work! Thanks!

I have been an enthusiastic member since the spring and I have really enjoyed your films. Thank you!.

Thanks for bringing excellent fliks to town. We need it.

This is a spontaneous gush of thanks to FLIKS. I hope you're having as much fun doing this, as I am telling everyone about you!

We can't thank you enough for your support, kind words of encouragement, constructive criticism, and for spreading the word about FLIKS. Without great audiences like you willing to give us your feedback, and filmmakers willing to make important films like these, we'd be nothing. It's been a fun ride to do what we love!

How about a printer friendly schedule of films that we can stick on the fridge...Film, dates, times, location. Thanks!!

Thanks for the suggestion. Soon we'll have downloadable versions of the calendar available on each location's page- just got to get the software that allows us to make the file small enough for a dial-up connection.

Can you bring FLIKS to our town?

We'd sure like to. If you think you can wrangle at least 45 people to come out to FLIKS screenings in your part of the Kootenays, then contact us and we'll see what we can work out.

What Remains of Us

Your Film Reviews and Comments

TIBET: A BUDDHIST TRILOGY was the most profuund film I've seen on Buddhist practice. THis was a once in a lifetime look into rituals I never expected to see in my lifetime. Thankyou!

SEARCHING FOR THE WRONG-EYED JESUS: The music in this film is astounding and I will be digesting Jim White's musings about the south for some time. I doubt I'll ever see another film like this . Thankyou!

THE BREADMAKER: It had been a ratty week for me, and going to THE BREADMAKER had me and everyone in Vallican laughing with recognition. Wish I'd seen it Monday night. And the great shots of St. John's, and real people. I love everyone in it, even the characters I didn't like, and I loved the parts about tortured and inspired writing, and the women at the bread factory reading her drafts, and the tortured romance scenes and kneading the dough lustfully, and the dad with his great belly and spindly legs making sardines and eggs and how he loved his daughter and on and on and on....and I especially loved the main character. She gave it all and expected it back. Good for her!

It is the best film FLIKS has shown yet. I loved each of the characters and loved to see St.John's !

We've got to admit, FLIKS was worried that it's audience may be too cultured or highbrow to appreciate the humour and nuances of this wonderful first-time feature film directed by Anita McGee. By your response, we worried for no reason.

BIG CITY DICK is really an extraordinary film. I've never seen one like it. Thanks a lot!

Why hasn't this film received mass distribution?

How can we tell people how wonderful and loving this film is. I sure hope they get theatrical distribution. If they don't, then I consider myself very lucky to have been able to see this fantastic film. Thank you!

FLIKS agrees with all of you. There is something so special about this film we think everyone should see it, and we can't figure out why the distributors haven't picked it up.

I went to the showing of Czech Dream in Nelson yesterday, and can recommend it to anyone else who is interested. Thanks!

Scared Sacred

Scared Sacred was the first FLIKS film I've been able to attend. It was fabulous. Thanks so much for all your work. We are lucky to have you here in our community. I'll be going to as many as I can.

How can we get this film into the United States. They need this film - especially now!

i loved Scared Sacred and I am still stoked about seeing Velcrow's other film, The Bones of the Forest (cuz i am also a filmmaker and treeplanter and i have been wanting to view this film for years). thanks for all that you do ... i am very grateful for FLIKS!!

We loved showing Scared Sacred, and Velcrow's workshops are lifechanging.

Little Dieter Needs to Fly is still Harvey's favourite FLIKS film, so far...

Delicate Art of Parking
was one of the funniest films I've ever seen! And it's great that it is Canadian!

I loved this film - I still don't know if it is a documentary or not though.

We loved it too - but we're not sure if the FLIKSmobile keeps getting tickets because we screened it... that, and we keep forgetting to plug the meter.

The Same River Twice

The Same River Twice was wonderful! I'd love to see River Dogs, the film he shot in the 70s about this rafting trip.

This film was my youth, and now it is me 30 years later!

Yup, we thought this one was made for the Kootenays. We are so thankful Ross Moss let us open FLIKS in March of 2004 with this film! We hope to get RiverDogs for an outdoor summer FLIKS screening.
